Overview

Create meaningful art for young audiences. Explore how age shapes creativity and why making art for young people truly matters.

Why create art for young people? And what difference does it make to our art?

When considering an audience for adult artwork (be that visual art, film, writing, etc.) often age isn't the first topic that comes to mind. We don't necessarily think about how to create a piece differently for a 30 year old, a 50 year old, or a 70 year old.

Yet creating art for a 5 year old, a 10 year old, and a 15 year old are all completely different tasks.

Work with award-winning children's author Rab Ferguson, and explore what it means to create for young people, and how that affects the art we then choose to make across any age range.

This workshop includes

  • Exploring the differences between art created for different ages of children
  • Considering how focusing on our audience changes our art
  • Thinking about why making art for young people matters.
