Creating Healthy Communities

Join JTP and experts for an evening of presentations and collaborative learning about how to deliver exemplary new communities.

The new government is driving forward planning reforms that aim to increase the delivery of new homes. The aim of this event is to support Homes England’s mission to ensure these new homes are set within neighbourhoods that support wellbeing and thriving healthy communities.Experts in establishing and fostering new communities from their pioneering stages through to maturity will share their expertise and explain how they overcame challenges including establishing community infrastructure during the early stages, navigating economic downturns, securing funding for construction, and running economically viable community facilities.Presentations will include case studies of three neighbourhoods established over 10 years ago where new communities today are thriving: Graylingwell Park, Chichester; Cholsey Meadows, South Oxfordshire; and Whitmore Park, Colchester. All three places were Homes England (formerly Homes of Communities Agency) sites part of the NHS portfolio and were subject to competitive developer selection with ambitious briefs targeting reuse of historic buildings, environmental excellence, low carbon and community stewardship.Participants include Amy Burbidge, Suzanne Keenan and Mike Goulding of Homes England; Clare de Bathe, CEO Chichester Community Development Trust at Graylingwell Park; Mark Patchett, Managing Director, Community Stewardship Solutions; and JTP Partner, Rebecca Taylor.
