Occupational Therapy supports children and young people with their independence in aspects of daily living or their participation in activities at home and at school. The service provides advice on new ways for a child or young person to complete a task, or how they could use adapted equipment to help them participate or be more independent.

A workshop on adapting classrooms to reduce sensory barriers & create inclusive environments where all students can regulate, engage & learn

This 60-minute online workshop provides practical ideas on how to design learning environments that are inclusive and supportive of students with sensory processing differences. Participants will explore how to adapt classroom spaces to reduce sensory barriers, promote regulation, and enable all students to fully engage in their learning. Key Learning Points:<ul><li>Understand how the classroom environment impacts students with sensory processing differences</li><li>Identify common sensory barriers that may affect engagement and learning</li><li>Explore practical, evidence-informed ways to adapt the learning environment</li><li>Learn how to create spaces that support regulation and well-being</li><li>Promote inclusion by making learning environments accessible to all students</li></ul> Session FormatDelivered online via Microsoft Teams, the workshop combines slides, spoken input, and opportunities to ask questions through the chat function. Please note that advice cannot be given about individual children during this session. Practical InformationJoining details will be emailed to participants a few days before the session. All workshops are delivered via Microsoft Teams and require an internet-enabled device. About the WorkshopThis workshop is led by an Occupational Therapist from the Sensory Processing Service. This workshop is suitable for teachers, teaching assistants, SENCOs, and early years staff who want to make their learning environments more inclusive and supportive for students with sensory processing differences.
