<P><SPAN><EM>Journeys</EM> is an exhibition of sculpture at Australia House, London, which will see Australian-born Shona Nunan and Michael Cartwright, along with their sons Sollai and Jacob Cartwright, present their sculptures together for the very first time. </SPAN>Join us for a conversation between Caroline Worthington, Director of the Royal Society of Sculptors, and two of the exhibiting artists, Shona and Michael, in which they will use the exhibition as a starting point from which to explore and examine the world of contemporary sculpture. </P>

<P><SPAN>As Director of the Royal Society of Sculptors, Caroline Worthington is responsible for delivering the Society’s programme encouraging visitors to view the world from a different perspective, to dig deep into the practice of  individual sculptors and to challenge thinking. As a membership organisation, the Society provides a supportive community to sculptors throughout their careers including access to training as well as bursaries, residencies and awards. In this way, Caroline has a unique perspective on the world of contemporary sculpture: she is acutely aware of what it takes to both establish a voice and to remain current in this particular area.</SPAN></P>
<P>Australian-born Shona Nunan and Michael Cartwright have exhibited and completed residencies in countries throughout the world: Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Belgium, France, Ireland and the UK. Having been immersed in the world of contemporary sculpture for over 35 years, the artists have a wealth of experience when it comes to evolving and strengthening their practices, learning how to absorb and contain a plethora of influences from around the world without allowing them to consume and dilute their work.</P>
<P>By bringing together the perspectives of creator and curator, this event will offer a focussed insight into what it takes to establish an identify, remain current and ultimately be successful in the world of contemporary sculpture.</P>
<P><SPAN><EM>Journeys</EM> is open to the public from 6 – 16 June 2018; from 17 - 29 June it is open by appointment only.</SPAN></P>
