<h3>🌸 About</h3>Creative coding crafts space embodies the notion of making space - physical space, head space, collaboration space - where we can get together and craft coding projects, generative artwork, new or ‘traditional’ forms of creative coding projects: anything that is born out of the interactions and inspiration that ‘space’ allows for.We'll aim to meet about once a month in or around Hackney Wick - an area known for its large artistic community and a <a href="https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/arts-and-culture/space-culture/explore-creative-enterprise-zones/about-creative-enterprise-zones" title="https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/arts-and-culture/space-culture/explore-creative-enterprise-zones/about-creative-enterprise-zones" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creative Enterprise Zone</a>. We'll kick things off with a couple of hours of structured content—introducing a new topic or tool, going through live demos, etc. After that, you can choose to stay and delve deeper into the topic of the day, work on your own projects or collaborate with others. 🛎️ Please note that the entrance fee is to help us cover the cost of the venue hire for 2h, and this is not a paid coding course. We're open to discussion at the kick-off event about ways we can keep the costs down / free.

<h3>🦜 Who is this for?</h3>The short answer is that, for this first meetup, it would be helful to have some experience in JavaScript and/or other creative coding tools. You are totally welcome to come even if you don’t have any experience but are curious to see if this is for you. The longer answer is that we are also new to this and want the community to shape itself organically. This means we might spend varying amounts of time teaching coding, or quickly shift to more creative technology topics that transcend code and venture into the physical space. We could end up with a small group of dedicated creative coders proficient in advanced tools like GLSL or WebGL, or a more diverse group of people who prefer higher-level or even no-coding tools to bring their ideas to life.

<h3>🔮 Long-term plans</h3>Here is an incomplete list of ideas we have for future workshops, just to give you a flavour of what we're thinking at the moment.<ul><li>‘Classic’ topics in generative art with tools like p5.js, Canvas, GLSL, etc.</li><li>Workshopping ideas about printing generative art, e.g. making posters, riso printing, lenticular printing.</li><li>Live coding audovisuals with languages like strudel, hydra, p5live.</li><li>Following along Dan Shiffman’s Nature of Code book and/or videos.</li><li>Making p5.js/shaders/etc. respond to outside prompts from cameras, motion (e.g. Leap JS), sensor data, etc.</li><li>Image manipulation, maybe with some generative AI art as a basis.</li><li>Drawing with maths.</li><li>Music visualisers with shaders, p5, Three.js, d3, etc.</li><li>Tools for &amp; making tiny games, e.g. with TIC-80</li><li>Prompts from past #genuary editions</li></ul>Our long-term hopes and dreams include working together on putting on a mixed media art exhibition locally.

Agenda

Who are we and what is the Creative Coding Crafts Space (c3s);
The landscape of creative coding/technologies/crafts; We will invite attendees to speak briefly about their own practices, ideas, or thoughts at this point.

Introduction 

Introduction to p5.js as a tool to draw (and have fun) with code, followed by making 'Mandala' patterns.

Topic 1: p5.js & making a Mandala 

Introductory techniques for using webcam video input + machine learning in ml5.js to manipulate video streams or control the canvas via gestures in p5.js.  

Topic 2: Interactive gesture-driven patterns with ml5.js and p5.js

We will open for questions on any part of the presentation and any topics covered. We'll facilitate a short feedback session about what you want to see next and how you'd like us to run these meetups. 

Wrapping up, Q&A

The main workshop event will end and the venue will re-open for other co-workers. Any of you who wish to stay will be able to use the space as you like: to work on expanding on the topics we talked about, bring along your own creative project, connect with other participants.
