Youth Theatre Arts Scotland(YTAS) is the national development organisation and umbrella body for Scotland’s extensive and vibrant youth theatre community.We aimto transform lives through youth theatre by developing inspiring participatory opportunities for young people in Scotland, and by connecting, supporting and training the professionals who work with them.

Join YTAS and Company of Wolves for the first Creative Concepts workshop of the year, and the launch of our wider sector training programme.

Tron Theatre

This event is part of our Creative Concepts stand of training, which is comprised of creative workshops for all artforms under the &#x27;youth theatre&#x27; umbrella.In this half-day workshop, you will be invited to explore methods of devising through movement and physical exploration. Lead practitioner Ewan Downie will guide you through activities to get you moving first, and thinking later... all while developing skills for collaborative storytelling through the body. After exploring movement practice as participants, we will use the final hour of the workshop to troubleshoot how these activities can be applied in a youth theatre setting, for all ages and abilities. You do not need to be an experienced mover to participate. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water to stay hydrated! The YTAS sector training programme is supported by funding from the Gannochy Trust and Creative Scotland. <a href="https://www.ytas.org.uk/grants/ytas-sector-training-programme-bursary/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bursaries are available</a> to any YTAS Member who requires financial support in order to attend one of our training courses, and will cover any fees associated with the training.

Meet the FacilitatorEwan Downie: Company of WolvesEwan is an acclaimed performer, writer, director and teacher with a lifelong interest in the roots of creativity and the study of human behaviour. He spent 2004-2012 immersed in the Polish laboratory theatre tradition, including six years as a member of Poland's renowned Song of the Goat Theatre, with whom he toured internationally, winning many awards.He is joint artistic director of Company of Wolves, and has directed and co-produced all of the company's work to date. Company of Wolves is a physical theatre ensemble based in Glasgow. They weave together music, movement and text, creating performances that investigate the experience of connection - to themselves, to others, to the world.

Who is it for? Practitioners: For those on the front line of creative delivery. Training that is for ‘practitioners’ is for anyone who engages directly with young people in the creative process.
