Decommissioning the Twentieth Century Project Team.

A free exhibition and event to discuss how we can better involve communities in the future of industrial sites when they close.

Creative Decommissioning is the final event of &#x27;<a href="https://chatterleywhitfield.online/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Decommissioning the Twentieth Century</a>&#x27;, a research project to find improved ways of placing communities at the heart of how twentieth-century infrastructure becomes twenty-first century heritage. The project was run by Keele University and focused on Chatterley Whitfield Colliery in Stoke-on-Trent, West Burton Power Station near Gainsborough in the lower Trent valley, and Fawley Power Station on the South Coast next to the New Forest.The exhibition will include:<ul><li>films</li></ul><ul><li>computer exhibits</li></ul><ul><li>art made with local people</li></ul><ul><li>images of the sites and their surroundings</li></ul><ul><li>a series of talks</li></ul><ul><li>workshops</li></ul><ul><li>and tours led by experts on the three sites</li></ul>This is an opportunity to tell us how people like yourself can better be involved in what happens when large industries close down and how nearby people, ex-employees and others can be encouraged to be consulted more in the future of ex-industrial sites.At the end of the event, we will begin drafting recommendations on how communities might better be engaged in decommissioning an exhibition of community art and ex-industrial sites.You are welcome to attend as much or as little as the day as you wish!Programme:9.00-10.00 Arrival and meet.10.00-11.15 Exhibition launch tour, guided by artists and heritage partners.11.15-12.30 Tea/Coffee time chats about people and decommissioning.12.30-13.30 Lunch and open exhibition viewing.13.30-14.30 Creative walk around exhibition.14.30-15.00 Teas and Coffees.15.00-16.30 Workshops: What goes in a policy paper on decommissioningAccommodation on the 12th-13th (if required) can be arranged, with reimbursed travel to and from the site.
