This July Jane Bentley will be introducing us to creative drumming through two fun and easy workshops.

You don't even need a drum to take part, and no previous musical experience is necessary - just find something from around the house that you can tap, rattle, and make a noise with!

In Part 1, we'll do some rhythmic warm-ups, and look at the basic building blocks of creating simple rhythms to play together - and use them as a starting point for improvisation - creating our own music.

Our second Creative Drumming workshop will be held on 24th July 2020 at 5:30pm. You are encouraged, but not required, to attend both.

Preparation required:

• Bring your own drum or rhythm instrument - or find or make one! Pots, pans, sweetie tubs - anything that you can make a rhythmic noise with.
• For drumsticks, you can use something like chopsticks, wooden sticks, or even a pencil.

Recommended for:

The workshop is best suited to adults, or families participating together.

Artist Profile:

Jane has facilitated improvisational drum circles in every conceivable environment for the past twenty years. She went on to complete her PhD in musical interaction, and currently works developing the role of musicians in health care settings worldwide. She has also created a percussive orchestra entirely from bicycles!
