Creative Colchester Partnership

An online, three-workshop programme for creative and culture sector workers on delivering rich, enjoyable and meaningful project evaluation

Are you frustrated with traditional evaluation methods?Do you feel your evaluation tools don’t reflect the creative nature of your work?Are you finding it hard to engage participants in evaluation?Do you get poor response rates from questionnaires? Building on the <a href="http://creativeandcredible.co.uk/" title="http://creativeandcredible.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creative and Credible</a> approach to evaluation, these workshops are for anyone in the cultural, creative, health and community sectors who wants to discover creative, accessible, and engaging approaches to evaluation. Led by Jane Willis (University of the West of England), the programme is designed to enable you to capture and share voices and stories of lived experience, better evidence the impact of your work and unlock sustained funding.Over the course of three interactive, online workshops, you will develop knowledge, skills and confidence to evaluate creatively as well as credibly. You will complete the course with ideas and inspiration around how to harness creativity to generate appropriate, relevant, meaningful evaluations.You will discover how to evaluate in ways that: <ul><li>Are enjoyable and rewarding for participants,</li></ul><ul><li>Generate improved response rates, and</li></ul><ul><li>Deliver richer and more meaningful data</li></ul> Working collaboratively, we will co-produce creative solutions to real-world scenarios. Sharing ideas and practice, we will explore ways in which creativity can reinvigorate existing evaluation methods including questionnaires, focus groups, feedback and monitoring. “Thanks so much for a wonderful course. About Your TrainerJane Willis is a Creative Health Consultant, Trainer, and Coach with more than 30 years’ experience of working in the Creative Health sector. She supports arts, cultural, health and community organisations to evaluate meaningfully and creatively so that they can better understand and evidence the impact of their work.Jane started working in healthcare in 1993 as Director of Arts for <a href="https://www.bartshealth.nhs.uk/" title="https://www.bartshealth.nhs.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Barts Health</a>, where she set up the NHS Trust’s arts programme, <a href="https://www.vitalarts.org.uk/" title="https://www.vitalarts.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Vital Arts</a>. After seven years at its helm, she moved to Bristol where she founded award-winning arts and health consultancy <a href="http://www.willisnewson.co.uk/" title="http://www.willisnewson.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Willis Newson</a>.As Director of Willis Newson, she worked with more than 32 NHS Trusts, health boards and charities to transform environments of care and drive culture change, establishing creative programmes that support staff, patients and wider communities.Driven by curiosity around the value and impact of this work, she initiated two <a href="https://www.ukri.org/councils/esrc/" title="https://www.ukri.org/councils/esrc/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Economic and Social Research Council</a> (ESRC) academic knowledge exchange partnerships with the <a href="https://www.uwe.ac.uk/" title="https://www.uwe.ac.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">University of the West of England</a> to explore how best to evaluate creative health programmes. Working as co-lead with Professor Norma Daykin, she produced <a href="https://creativeandcredible.co.uk/" title="https://creativeandcredible.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creative and Credible</a>, an online resource supporting better arts and health evaluation which continues to inform much of her current training.Jane is a passionate advocate of creative approaches to evaluation, which are rewarding, enjoyable and engaging for those who take part; delivers rich and meaningful data; elicits high response rates and can be integrated seamlessly into creative programmes. “Thank you, Jane.
