About this event

  • 3 hours

Do you sometimes wish you were part of a team? We all know freelancing can feel lonely and frustrating sometimes. This very relaxed and informal event is a chance to meet like minded people. A chance to learn, discuss, share and feel like you're part of something bigger.

We are very lucky to have both Brandon Hamley and Dan Pettitt as our guest speakers, with time for Q&A's after each talk. We will also be serenaded throughout the evening by the singer and songwriter Emma Doupé.

Brandon Hamley // Designer, Musician and DJ

Finding Your Flow

“Some creatives already know the feeling of flow, also known as being in the ‘zone’ or the ‘groove’. It’s an almost effortless, focussed and positive mental approach to working that seemingly offers creative superpowers. But what if you don’t know this feeling yet or struggle to find it? What exactly is this ‘flowstate’ and how can you tap into it to benefit your business and creative work?

In this talk Brendon Hamley shares experiences, insights and practical tips for utilising flowstate thinking gained from decades of creative practice as a Designer, Musician and DJ.

Dan Pettitt // Creative Director at Ottr Works

Dan is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of Ottr Works, a film agency based in the heart of Wiltshire. The growing Ottr Works team live and breathe film, traveling all over the UK to tell standout stories for clients such as Epic Games, National Trust and GWR.

In his talk, Dan will be sharing his insights from working within film production including:

  • How to make videos
  • The best platforms to use
  • The best camera setups for photography
  • Fundamentals to a good video
  • Hook, narrative, lighting and sound
  • Standing out
  • Your social is your shop front, clean it up!
  • Lessons we’ve learnt
  • Be nice, be curious

Emma Doupé // Singer, Songwriter and Musician

Emma Doupé is an American born singer-songwriter, artist, and inspirer. She relocated to the UK eight years ago to pursue a life in music, art, and expression of self. In these years, Emma has developed a unique approach to self-expression, as a whole, and is now focused on helping others to find their own inspiration.

Emma is a passionate and soulful musician whose music transcends boundaries and speaks to the heart. With a voice that resonates with raw emotion and lyrics that paint vivid stories, she has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.

Hot drinks are available FOC, plus there's the Hop bar if you fancy something a little stronger.

We really hope you can join us, and enjoy feeling part of Swindon's big creative freelance community.
