Kakilang's popular artist development programme returns to Shoreditch Town Hall this summer!
Creative Lab is back for the third time - with an exciting array of multidisciplinary workshops, expert artist-facilitators, and the unique opportunity to develop your ideas for free in one of London's most iconic venues!
In partnership with Shoreditch Town Hall, the programme offers a safe space for artists to:
- Discover new ways of expressing themselves and expanding their practice
- Take creative risks
- And explore innovative approaches across movement, sound art, visual mediums, and technology.
Led by industry professionals, these workshops are designed to reflect the possibilities of working across disciplines and art forms. They are open to anyone from diverse backgrounds and heritages, and we particularly welcome artists with East* and Southeast Asian** heritage (definitions below).
You can participate in any number of the 4 workshops running across June this year. There will also be the opportunity to take over Shoreditch Town Hall's atmospheric, underground spaces for a 'creation week' to test and devise any emerging ideas or existing works-in-progress inspired by the workshops. The programme will culminate in an evening sharing event for the public / guests on Friday 3rd July 2026.
Each individual three-hour workshop is a steal at £10, or get an All-Access Pass to all four workshops at a discounted price of £30! All participants will have the opportunity to be a part of the creation week as part of their ticket. Refreshments will be provided throughout.

Bursaries / Access
Kakilang has a commitment to decreasing barriers to access for groups who are underrepresented in London's cultural landscape. We are thus providing 4 x £50 artist bursaries to eligible individuals who feel that the support will facilitate their participation in the programme. There are 2 bursaries for artists who are based outside of Greater London, and the remaining 2 are ringfenced for artists with Southeast-Asian** heritage. Each bursary also includes entry to a workshop of your choice - if you'd like to attend multiple workshops, additional tickets would have to be purchased separately.
To apply, please fill in this short google form by Monday 1st June 2026 (11:59 pm): https://forms.gle/eGbC6LCEHxgtxSUH9.
