Welcome to the Creative Workshop: Exploring Women’s Empowerment and Oppression. Join us at the CLC 1.02, Clerici Building, Oxford Brookes University, on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 15:00 for an engaging session led by Yasmin Sidhwa from Mandala Theatre Company.

This workshop explores the history of gender based oppression and the silencing of the feminine principle. You will dive into thought-provoking discussions surrounding reproductive rights, domestic abuse, and postpartum mental health. The session offers a great opportunity to connect with others and gain new perspectives in a supportive environment.

You will learn to express your views through drama, creative writing, and poster making. Yasmin will guide you to devise monologues and poetry to share your stories. No prior experience in the arts is necessary to join this enlightening event.

Mandala Theatre Company is an ethnically diverse-led company based in East Oxford. They use performance as a powerful tool for social justice and youth empowerment, creating platforms for voices from the global majority and disadvantaged backgrounds. This latest production, Incarcerating Eve, was co-created with student and women's groups in Oxford, Luton, Salford, and Bristol. By working with those with lived experience, Mandala continues its mission to tell the stories that often go untold.

Yasmin Sidhwa is the founder and Artistic Director of Mandala Theatre Company. Yasmin is an accomplished actor and director who has toured with the Royal National Theatre Company, Tara Arts, and Aquila Theatre Company. Her extensive experience spans repertory theatre, television, and radio, with a career dedicated to using performance as a vehicle for social change.
