About this course

A general two hour course to encourage people who might not have written for a long time to have a go at writing creatively and develop their confidence and curiosity in writing.

There will be several writing activities to introduce the mechanics of writing description of a setting, creating a character and considering some plot/ action. Learners will work in pairs and on their own to come up with ideas and to put these ideas into practice. There will also be the opportunity for some feedback.


What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

  • To take part in discussion to explore and analyse extracts from published writers.
  • To take part in paired activities to explore ideas
  • To create short pieces of creative writing


What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

  • An interest in reading and writing

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
