11th April 2026: Form
What is the best way to tell your story? Is it a linear narrative starting when your protagonist was born and ending on their deathbed? Or could you shake it up a bit? We’ll be looking at different ways to approach your story, discussing points of view and tense as well as narrative shapes and innovative structures that could transform your work.
This is the first workshop in Clare Reddaway's 2026 summer block of writing workshops. Clare runs regular creative writing workshops online from her home in Bath. Clare keeps her workshops small, enabling all antendees to participate, share, receive feedback and advice.
The workshop will run for two and a half hours. We will meet online on zoom. Details of the zoom meeting will be emailed to you prior to the workshop, and are also available via Eventbrite after booking.
Clare is running two other workshops in Summer 2026:
2nd May: Flash Fiction
Flash fiction: delicious tiny explosions of energy and imagery, fizzing with ideas wrapped in a miniature bundle. In this workshop, we’ll take four pieces of flash fiction. We'll look at shape, structure, beginnings and endings, word choice and ideas. You will write your own pieces of flash as we go.
6th June: Suspense
What keeps you turning the pages? Why do you stay up late at night, chewing your nails, wnating to find out what happened next? In this workshop we’ll be looking at how to create suspense in your work.
About the workshops:
The workshop facilitator is Clare Reddaway, who has been running monthly writing workshops at her home in central Bath for years - and now in a very modern way, runs workshops online. All of the workshops aim to be supportive and encouraging to writers of prose, particularly short stories, at all levels. Clare provides exercises which are stimulating and inspiring (hopefully!) in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
