CSF Spring Dairy Event

CSF Spring Dairy Event

Willowbrook FarmStockley, England
Wednesday, June 3  •  10 AM - 2:30 PM
Overview

The Slurry Journey - From Cow to Crop

Join us this spring for a practical and informative on-farm event exploring the full “slurry journey”—from dairy cow nutrition right through to nutrient utilisation in the field. This event is designed to help livestock farmers understand how decisions at every stage of the system influence nutrient efficiency, emissions, and environmental outcomes.

This farm walk will showcase a progressive dairy system, recently transitioned to robotic milking (2025), including low-emission flooring with added foot health benefits.

Kindly hosted by Lucy & Nick Tyler at Kingsplay Farming, alongside your local Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) team, Paul Arnold (CSF National Air Quality Lead), and dairy nutrition guest speaker Kenton Hart from Aberystwyth University.

What to Expect:

This interactive event will take a whole-system approach, covering:

  • Dairy nutrition and feed efficiency and their impact on slurry quality
  • Housing systems and yard management, including auto/robot scrapers and bedding choices
  • Slurry handling, storage, and infrastructure, with a demonstration of a mobile slurry separator
  • Application methods and nitrogen efficiency, including practical field-based demonstations.

Throughout the day, we’ll highlight practical ways to reduce nutrient losses to air and water, improve nutrient use efficiency, and enhance overall farm performance.

Event Details

  • Time: 10:00am arrival for a 10:30 start, finishing around 2:30pm
  • Location: Willowbrook Farm (Kingsplay Farming), Stockley, Calne, Wiltshire, SN11 0NT
  • Lunch: Free lunch provided
  • Audience: Wessex dairy farmers

This is a great opportunity to see new technologies in action, share experiences, and discuss practical solutions with fellow farmers and industry experts in a relaxed, social setting.

We look forward to welcoming you for an engaging and valuable day on farm.
