CuratorSpace is a commissioning platform for curators, organisers, galleries, and artists. It is designed to take the hassle out of managing exhibitions, competitions, fairs, and other creative opportunities. CuratorSpace allows organisers to create open calls and briefs for creative jobs and opportunities and allows applicants to submit their proposals directly through the site.The platform helps people to manage their opportunity, with the ability to accept and decline submissions, keep notes, and communicate directly with applicants either individually or as a group. We also host artist profiles making it even easier for organisers to find all kinds of artists and invite them to apply directly to their opportunities.

Come and join us for our first ever professional development event for artists and curators. These events give you the chance to hear from creative professionals about the work they do and how they can help you to develop your own practice. You’ll also have the chance to relax with a drink and meet other people working in the creative industries. Speakers include artist-curator Gill Crawshaw, and co-founder of Leeds Creative Timebank, Sue Ball. Creative marketing expert, Eleanor Snare, will also be taking your questions about how to market yourself as a creative practitioner. Gill Crawshaw - Artist-curator
Gill Crawshaw is a Leeds-based curator, currently studying for an MA in Curation Practices at Leeds Arts University. Her experience of curating is founded on a long engagement with disability arts and activism. Drawing on the organisational and project management skills developed throughout her career, she organised the exhibitions The Reality of Small Differences (2014) and Shoddy (2016), both of which featured disabled artists working with textiles. Her aim is to work with others so that disabled people are more visible, and to spark more conversations relating to disability, including urgent issues about disability rights. Sue Ball - Cultural Producer, Director, and co-founder of Leeds Creative Timebank
Sue Ball is a cultural producer who works in the context of social and spatial design. She is also Director of Media and Arts Partnership (MAAP) and Exec Chair of Yorkshire Visual Arts Network (YVAN), as well as being one of the co-founders of Leeds Creative Timebank. Emerging from Leeds’ radical past and DIY culture, Leeds Creative Timebank (LCT) thrives through its membership now currently at over 200 creatives with 4000 hours exchanged. Leeds Creative Timebank sustains itself, fuelled by the reciprocity of its members who receive bespoke professional development, hands-on practical support and R&D advice. Now an established model, it has inspired creative timebanks in Sheffield and Bristol, with opportunities for inter-city trading. Eleanor Snare - Creative Marketing Specialist
Eleanor Snare is marketing consultant, copywriter and educator. She helps creative businesses market themselves in sustainable ways. In the last six years she has worked with over 40 brands to develop and deliver successful marketing and communication campaigns, from one-person creative businesses up to international businesses like Unilever. She also teaches at the University of Leeds as a Fashion Marketing tutor, educating students on how to be marketers with integrity. She has a BA in Design and Applied Arts and an MA in History of Art. Venue
The event will take place at the stunning new Platform building just next to the train station. Entrance through the reveolving doors next to M&S food. All areas of the building are wheelchair accessible. Parking is available in the long stay car park at the train station and there are also bus stops outside the train station and across the road on City Square.
