Six Webinar Masterclasses: Live and Recorded

<h3>Event Outline. </h3>Masterclasses start at the times shown via Zoom webinars, on both days. Each runs for 70 minutes followed by 15 minutes of questions taken from the online chat. Ticket-holders will receive recordings of all six masterclasses for sharing with colleagues or viewing later. All slides and linked materials will be included. This means you can choose to watch live or catch up on all the webinars afterwards at your convenience. You will be offered a choice of books as part of the registration process nearer the time of the event, included in the price. The link will be emailed in February. The sessions each day are as follows, with running order subject to change within each day:Thursday March 4th 11.20 Mary Myatt 'Getting to Goldilocks’ How do we make sure that the curriculum is ambitious for all our pupils, regardless of their starting points? How can we create the conditions for ‘high challenge and low threat’? How can authentic sources and resources help us to get there?1.30 Jon Hutchinson What might a coherent curriculum look like in practice? After five years of designing and leading a knowledge-rich curriculum used in schools across the country, this session provides practical examples of how to move towards a more coherent and evidence-based curriculum offer3.30 Jennifer Webb Maximising Potential with Metacognition. This masterclass will discuss the compelling research around the power of Metacognition and the implications for curriculum design, providing a range of practical strategies for implementation at classroom and whole school level.Friday March 5th 9.30 John Tomsett The Principles of Cognitive Apprenticeship.This masterclass provides an explanation of how to develop your students' subject specific problem-solving thought processes using the principles of cognitive apprenticeship." 11.20 Niki Kaiser Building a meaningful curriculum. "This masterclass is about how we can work with our pupils to ensure what they learn is retained, understood and meaningful. I’m a Science teacher, so my ideas will be rooted in my own practice, but will be relevant to all subjects in some way."1.30 Jeffrey Boakye The design principles that underpin curriculum planning. What needs to be flexible, what needs to be fixed, and the role of core values. The session will also look at how a curriculum sits in conversation with wider social contexts, in tension with or adapting to societal values.
