The ultimate in eco-friendly mowing, a chance to learn the traditional art of scything

Scything is one of the oldest agricultural skills, used since humanity started agriculture. This day long course gives you a chance to re-connect with this ancient skill.

Taught by the experience scyther, Beth Tilston, the course will cover the following:


  • How to set up the scythe to fit your body
  • Scythe safety
  • Mowing technique
  • Sharpening technique
  • How to peen (cold forging the blade to help it stay sharp)
  • How to mow tricky areas


All equipment will be provided
