Event description

Description

You are invited to our next Computing Showcase to discover all things cyber security at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. This event is suitable for those considering studying computing at post-16, but is also open to students who would like more information on our Y9 and Y10 offer.

Witness the unveiling of our brand-new Security Operations Centre, an immersive lab which analyses and detects cyber security threats. The high-tech lab is a direct simulation of what’s used in industry, with facilities including dual screens and a threat wall.

See live examples of A Level projects you could be working on including an employer-led project with Razor, where students are producing a system to track digital assets. Students will be presenting their ideas to Razor on the evening, and you’ll have the opportunity to talk to them about what it’s like to study Computing at the UTC, as well as talk to Razor about what it’s like to work in the industry.

Other live demonstrations include:

  • Physical Computing Projects
  • VEX Robotics
  • Encryption
  • Cyber Security & Technologies

Take part in our ‘Dirty Network’ interactive activity. Our students have built and manage a network which requires your help to find the keys and phrases that pose a threat within the network’s infrastructure.

Colin Smith, Curriculum Director for Computing, will also be leading a discussion on the offer available at the UTC and how working with our employer partners is responding to the needs of the industry and creating fantastic opportunities for our students.
