Synopsis
Start the year with insight, connection, and community at the BCS Aberdeen Branch. Our Cybersecurity: Start The Year Safe event combines our Annual General Meeting with two thought‑provoking talks on the future of cybersecurity.
What to Expect:
You’ll hear from Dr Harsha Kalutarage (Associate Professor of Cyber Security - RGU), who will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape — both as a tool for attackers and as a powerful defence mechanism. This keynote sets the stage for 2026, highlighting emerging risks and opportunities.
Our second speaker, Bruce Skinner (CEO - ALTO MSSP LTD) will bring the discussion closer to everyday practice with a session on Trusting Third‑Party Applications. This talk will examine the risks and safeguards when relying on external apps and integrations, offering practical steps for individuals and organisations.
Each talk will be followed by a short Q&A, giving you the chance to engage directly with the speakers.
