Description
With the new data protection law now in effect have you updated your Cyber Security to make sure you stay compliant? You need to ensure that your business is complying with the updated law, otherwise you could be at risk of a penalty fine. Don't put yourself or your business at risk; come along to our half-day workshop to find out what you can do to make sure you are equipped to manage your cyber security risks and that you are compliant.
This workshop starts with a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) overview, exploring strategic issues that could affect SMEs and what provisions you have put in place to make sure your business stays compliant. The main methods of defence (software, processes and people) are described and the importance of monitoring and measurement.
It then moves onto introducing the cyber threat landscape focusing on hackers and how they operate. Then covering the sort of damage that cyber breaches can cause and emphasises that not all the damage is around a failure to comply with data privacy laws: there are serious dangers to strategic positioning that need to be considered.
The workshop finishes by reviewing different forms of certification and by running through the details of a self-assessment activity required by the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme.
The workshop will be presented by Barry Kruger of Progressive Digital who has more than 15 years’ experience leading sector-wide digital transformation initiatives.
This workshop is part of the Northamptonshire Digital Enhancement project which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and it is aimed at small and medium sized enterprises across Northamptonshire.
To be eligible to attend this workshop companies must:

Be registered or trade from a Northamptonshire address

Be an SME (less than 250 employees and less than £42 mil turnover);

Complete a registration form.
