Cybersecurity Workshop & Networking for SME's
Join us in person for a workshop on cybersecurity and how to protect your business in 2026!
Event Overview
Cyber security is an ever-growing issue, with more and more threats becoming prevalent. Threats to SMEs are increasing tremendously, and it can be a lonely and confusing space especially if you’re a small business owner. You can often find yourself unsure about what will actually affect you and your business.
At this event, we will break down what is currently happening in the world of cyber security in 2026, with a focus on issues affecting businesses in and around Coventry and Warwickshire. We will give you simple steps you can take away to reduce your risk of cyber attacks and bring your business into line with Cyber Essentials best practice. People often think they need to spend thousands of pounds to be fully protected, but that is not always the case!
In this workshop, you'll learn:
1. What people misunderstand about Cyber Security
Many business owners believe cyber security is expensive, overly technical, or only relevant to large organisations. This section will challenge those assumptions, highlighting the most common misconceptions and showing how effective protection is often simpler and more affordable than expected.
2. Why two factor authentication is so important
We’ll explain how it works, why passwords alone are no longer enough, and how enabling 2FA can prevent the majority of common cyber attacks.
3. The REAL impact of being cyber attacked
A cyber attack can affect far more than just your IT systems. In this session, we’ll explore the real-world consequences for SMEs, including financial loss, operational disruption, reputational damage, and potential legal implications.
4. Real world examples of SME's being Phished
We’ll walk through real-life examples of phishing attacks targeting small businesses, showing exactly what the emails looked like, how staff were caught out, and what could have been done to prevent it.
5. Examples of low cost or free tools?
Cyber security doesn’t have to be expensive. We’ll introduce a range of trusted, low-cost or free tools that can significantly improve your business’s security, including password managers, multi-factor authentication apps, and basic email protection solutions.
Whether you’re unsure about your current cyber security, concerned about potential threats, or simply want to understand how to better protect your business, this event will give you practical guidance you can apply straight away.
Who this is for:
Business owners, directors, and teams who want to reduce risk, improve their cyber awareness, and gain clear, up-to-date insights into protecting their organisation without unnecessary complexity or cost.
