Cycle Kitchen

All the weekly sessions and classes offered by volunteers related to DIY cycle maintenance and cycling.

<h3>What to expect?</h3> During our Cycle Kitchen you will have access to a great range of cycle maintenance tools and your individual stand and tool kit to work on your own cycle (bike, trike, wheelchair, unicycle ...). You will be joined by other members in a friendly space of learning and practicing. You will work on a maintenance or fixing project of your own choosing. If you're looking for some help diagnosing a problem or need guidance on the best way to apply a fix, we often have a few qualified cycle mechanic volunteers who will be happy to guide you. <ul><li>We do not *yet* have a significant parts bin for rummaging, but are working to build that up soon</li><li>We also have a small range of consumables (cable inners, cable outers, end caps, assorted nuts and bolts, tubes) available for you to use in exchange for a small donation</li><li>We have PPE (mask, ear defenders, safety glasses, non-latex gloves) for all attendants but we recommend you to bring your own if you have them</li><li>If you need any help or guidance, please ask our volunteers, they are eager to help!</li><li>Please note there is no possibility of storing your projects for the next time you come in. Our tool library space is shared and used by different groups throughout the week. We need as much space available for the magic of sharing to happen.</li><li>If you're worried about trying to fix something, wether we have the tools, or someone with the knowledge to assist, get in touch with <a href="mailto:thomas@edinburghtoollibrary.org.uk" title="mailto:thomas@edinburghtoollibrary.org.uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">thomas@edinburghtoollibrary.org.uk</a> with your concerns and we'll let you know if we can help!</li></ul> <h3>Important info </h3><h4>Requirements</h4><ul><li>Having an active membership at the Edinburgh Tool Library is required. <a href="https://edinburghtoollibrary.org.uk/membership/" title="https://edinburghtoollibrary.org.uk/membership/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sign up or renew your membership here</a></li><li>Bring your own cycle (bike, trike, wheelchair, unicycle ...) to work on.</li></ul> <h4>Booking etiquette</h4>We only have a small number of spaces available each week, so to allow all of our members to have equal access to the workshop, please only book two sessions a month in advance.However, as there is no wait list for our Cycle Kitchen, if you have used your two sessions and spot a last minute slot you can use, feel free to snap it up.If you would like to attend this session but find that it is already fully booked, new dates are published on eventbrite weekly every Thursday evening at 20:00.Cancelling and £5 no-show feeOut of courtesy to volunteers please cancel your booking 48 hours in advance. This will give us the opportunity to offer the workstand to another member and make the most of the time our volunteers are offering.If you fail to attend the session, we reserve the right to deduct a no-show fee donation of £5 from your registered card on myTurn.
