CycleHack Leeds 2018

CycleHack is a global movement that is on a mission tomake the world more sustainable by reducing the barriersto cycling. CycleHack focuses on bringing people and their places together to discuss and generate solutions to barriers that stop or inhibit people from successfully cycling.26 cities took part in CycleHack Global 2017, across 4 continents.

CycleHack Leeds

CycleHack Leeds is a part of the 2018 Global CycleHack Event taking in place from 10-12 August this year. Cities all over the world will spend 48 hours designing solutions to reduce barriers to cycling in their cities. Come along for a creative and fun weekend! It is a not-for-profit event run completely by volunteers.
Ideas will be implemented and tested in the city to create prototypes and see how they might work in the real world. All the ideas created are then shared on the <A HREF="http://catalogue.cyclehack.com/catalogue/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CycleHack Open Source Catalogue</A> for the world to see, share and use in their own cities.
Let’s take barriers to cycling in Leeds and create and prototype new ideas to make them happen.

When?
// Friday 10th August, 6.00pm - 9.30pm: Includes launch, speakers, refreshments
Meet bunch of cycling enthusiasts and discuss your barriers to cycling. Get inspired by talks from speakers and be ready for creative activities to commence over the next two days!
// Saturday 11th August, 9:30am - 4pm: Includes lunch & refereshments
Saturday will be spent researching and prototyping. Forming teams around shared insights, discuss and formulate ideas for solutions to overcome cycling barriers in Leeds.
// Sunday 12th August, 9:30am - 3pm: Includes lunch & refreshments
Sunday will focus on realising ideas and testing them on the street. We will venture, document our findings and share these hacks with the global community through the CycleHack catalogue. A prize will be given to the team with the best hack!

I’m not a cyclist. Can I come?
Of course, everyone is welcome! If you consider yourself a non-cyclist, then this is the perfect opportunity to hack the barriers which stop you from getting on the saddle. We want to make the world bike-friendly for everyone.
 
What is a CycleHack?
A CycleHack can be a tangible prototype of an idea which addresses a barrier to cycling. It can also mean to retrospectively modify current infrastructure, policy and / or cycling products & services using a cyclist’s intuition.
 
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There's bike parking available on the University campus but no free public parking available.
