daikon* are launching issue #5 Migration! daikon* is a platform for the writing and art of South-East and East Asian non-binary people and women in Europe.
For issue #5 of daikon*, we asked: ‘how do borders and moving across borders shape our lives, identities, and communities?’ The answers we discovered delved into family histories, highlighted exploitative political and national systems, and experimented with the boundaries of creative expression for immigrants and diasporic people. The Migration issue will be available to buy (for £5-7 on a sliding scale) and read throughout the launch event. We have a great programme of events, check it out below.

This is a space which centers Southeast and East Asian women and non-binary people but which is open and welcoming to all. To ensure that everyone has a good time, please read and follow the guidelines below: Racism, anti-blackness, islamophobia, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and general bigotry is not welcome in this space. Southeast and East Asian people are not exempt from this, as we acknowledge that these are issues which we are tackling within our community. If you are in a position of privilege, we ask that you educate yourself on these issues, and that you ‘call each other in’ by gently pointing out oppressive opinions. If you’re asked to reconsider your language and behaviour, please listen and be willing to change. Your intention may not have been to hurt someone, but it is important that we help each other deconstruct and dismantle the oppressive structures we exist in through dialogue and mutual accountability. 
Don’t assume or question anyone’s gender or experiences. You might want to ask for someone’s pronouns (i.e. they/them, she/her) if you’re meeting a new person or if you’re not sure.
There is zero tolerance to harassment of any form, and we will ask people to leave the space if necessary.
If you have any issues (or just want to chat/say hi), please don’t hesitate to find one of the organisers, who you’ll be able to identify from their badges, or drop us a message through any of our channels.
