Dal: Cookery Demonstration 

Bell House is a volunteer led charity that provides creative learning for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our vision is to offer an opportunity to gather for learning, enjoyment and friendship in a special place.

In this workshop we will cook and sample different types of dal from northern and southern Pakistan, discuss which chutneys go well with them, and whether you prefer the rice or the bread as an accompaniment whilst sipping a steaming mug of chai.
 
Dal is a magical and healthy dish. It easily absorbs the flavours it's cooked with, from subtly seasoned oils to complex fiery spices. Sara will show how it can become a complete meal, adding vegetables and carbohydrates, protein and vegetables.
 
This workshop will be led by Sara Bham. Growing up in Karachi, she loved going to the early morning markets with her father, market basket in hand.  Wherever she is in the world, Sara now always seeks out local markets, and invites friends and family to sample Pakistani food. Her dal is always the firm favourite, with recipes and demonstrations demanded from all those who taste it.
