Overview

FOR HOME EDUCATED FAMILIES | A monthly home education group, following nature's seasonal rhythms and building skills.

Nature, Skills and Connection | Home Education Group

We believe every child deserves a childhood rooted in nature. Our monthly home education group is designed to help families follow the rhythms of the seasons while building practical skills for a resilient future.

Guided by permaculture values, we provide a space where young people don't just learn about the world—they learn how to thrive within it. The sessions are designed for children age 5+ who do not attend school. Younger children are welcome but please note that our intention is to provide activities based on the interests and passions of children attending and progressively develop skills - The Wild Passport activities, for example, are suitable for primary age and older.

These pilot sessions are generously subsidised by the Ernest Cook Trust - a charity doing amazing work connecting young people with nature across the UK.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a drop-off session, it is designed for the whole family to participate.

What to expect

Our sessions are holistic and hands-on, held on our small farm with a permaculture garden, food forest, sheep pastures, a learning polytunnel, yurt and fire spiral.

Each month includes:

  • Seasonal Crafts - Working with natural materials and connecting with the changing seasons.
  • Practical Skills - Real-world experience in fire lighting, tool use, shelter-building and food growing.
  • The Wild Passport - An optional framework for young people to track and celebrate their outdoor skills progression.
  • Nature Connection - Plenty of dedicated time for free play, exploration, and family connection.
