DANCE & CAMERA WORKSHOP
A unique and new practice-based workshop by DFP, where dancers and filmmakers collaborate to explore movement for camera.
On May 3, join us for a Dance & Camera workshop led by Dance.Film.Performance (DFP), exploring the connection between movement and film.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will take part in a practice-based session combining dance and camera work, and create a short video piece together.
This session is open to dancers, filmmakers, and anyone interested in exploring how movement works on camera.
The workshop is structured around live tasks that you will try during the session. These tasks are designed for both dancers and filmmakers.
You will explore:
• Creating choreography for the camera
• Directing movement for the camera
• Improvisation on camera
• Working with space, bodies, and framing
• Performing with awareness of the camera
• Ways to capture movement live
• Shaping your material into a short video
You will work in couples or small groups, following the tasks step by step to create your own filmed piece.
This is a hands-on session focused on practice, collaboration, and learning through doing.
If you are a filmmaker, please bring your own equipment. You are also welcome to film using your phone.
