A joyful afternoon of Silk Road inspired movement, dance, flatbread making and cultural exploration.
Join us for a joyful afternoon of movement, food and cultural exploration inspired by the Silk Road.
The Silk Road was not only a route for trading goods, but also a space where people, ideas, traditions, music, food and stories travelled and met. Silk Road Joy is a BAZM project inspired by this movement and exchange, bringing people together to explore culture through movement, food and creativity.
We’ll begin with gentle breathing, somatic movement and hand gestures inspired by dance traditions from cultures connected through the Silk Road, before moving into a relaxed shared dance.
Then we’ll gather around the table to make simple flatbreads (naan), experimenting with herbs, spices, walnuts and sesame seeds. We’ll bake them together and enjoy them with a simple yoghurt and cucumber dip, with tea to share.
BAZM is a community-focused creative organisation creating joyful gatherings around movement, culture, food, creativity and connection.
No previous dance or cooking experience is needed. Come as you are and move, make and enjoy together.
Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move and dance in. If you have an apron or hairnet, feel free to bring them to keep your clothes clean while making the flatbreads.
