About this event

About Dance in the Gardens

Brought to you by Tala Lee-Turton Productions, Dance in the Gardens features No Time Like The Present, a dance and music experience presented for the first time at Sheffield Botanical Gardens.

No Time Like The Present is a female-led, outdoor, one act ballet performed and created by a diverse team. You will encounter five dancers performing a one-act ballet to a synth pop score composed specifically for the production. The performance lasts 40 minutes without a break.

The five women explore what makes them who they are and present their stories in dance form. They suggest there is no time like the present to understand women as individuals, that before and after the “present” being performed here today, exists a past and a future.

The production is an international partnership between South Yorkshire-born dancer and graduate of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Moscow, Tala Lee-Turton, with choreographer and Soloist of American Ballet Theatre, Zhongjing Fang. The creative team have worked with companies including Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, English National Ballet and Hamburg Ballet.

Join us from 6:00pm Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th August 2022. The ambient soundscape is scheduled to begin from 6:30pm with the performance commencing at 7:00pm and finishing by 7:45pm.

The creative team will be available to chat following the performance and there will be a Q&A with Tala and the creative team. The Botanical Gardens will remain open until 8:30pm and we would love you to enjoy the evening at the venue until then.

There will be a selection of food traders and a bar to cater for your food and drink needs. Come dressed for the weather and choose how you enjoy the performance by bringing your own chairs and blankets or purchase one of our VIP gazebos along with your tickets.
