L﻿EAD SportLeadership, Employability & Development in Sport for PKC PupilsWe recognise that our young people make a valuable contribution as leaders in sport. Our LEAD Sport pathway provides leadership, employability and development opportunities in sports for our young people in Perth and Kinross.   Our programmes are designed to help young people to develop confidence in their abilities, transferrable core skills, and leadership skills. They will have the opportunity to increase their educational attainment and boost their CV.  We are committed to reducing inequalities and places will be prioritised to pupils living in SIMD 1 & 2, Young Carers, Looked After Children, those with an assessed disability or ASN and teenage girls.We provide a range of programmes for PKC pupils involved in sports that help them to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and experiences in schools, clubs, and/or Live Active settings to help them develop.Getting Started- a variety of leadership courses during the school holidays and inset days.Aspiring Coaches- A three-day interactive conference during the curriculum in June to give S4-S6 pupils the opportunities to gain generic leadership skills and knowledge. On completion of volunteering hours, pupils progress to their Governing Body’s coaching pathway. This is our flagship programme that is fully funded.Activate- Providing opportunities in sports leadership and work experience for S4-S6 pupils who attend school during the exam diet.Young Ambassadors -Each year two pupils from each secondary school  in P&K are selected to promote sport, and motivate and inspire other young people to get involved in sport.We also have modern apprenticeships in a variety of schools across P&K and with our sports development team. Recruitment for these posts is often in March and June each year.

Active Schools - Live Active Leisure

A  great way  for those who love dance to develop communication and leadership skills, build confidence, gain recognised qualifications.

North Inch Community Campus

Candidates must attend all sessions:Sunday 22nd September 10am-1pm (Pre Course)Monday 14th - Friday 18th October - 9am-5pmThe qualification requires full attendance at all the course days and an additional 21 hours of self-study. On the first day of the course (September 22nd) tasks will be given which must be completed prior to attending the full week as part of the self-study commitment. In addition to this there will be approximately 1 hour of self-study given each night from Monday 14th – Friday 18th OctoberFor more information or to contact the organiser, please get in touch with;Alys Hughes - alyshughes@liveactive.co.ukUpon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate of qualification and 7 credits awarded by the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework. Full attendance at the course is required.The Schools Sport Coaching Project, supported by the Gannochy Trust, offers Perth and Kinross Council School Pupils the opportunity to undertake introductory sports coaching/leadership qualifications. This is a great way to develop communication and leadership skills, build confidence, gain recognised qualifications and get some experience in sports coaching.Terms &amp; Conditions As part of the project, you will be expected to volunteer at least 20 hours in a school or community club setting. Your active schools co-ordinator (who is based at your school) can help you find a local placement. These hours can also be assigned to other awards (e.g. Duke of Edinburgh, Saltire Award) School Staff will not be present during the courseIt is your own responsibility to arrange your own travel arrangementsCourses may involve work before, during and after the course which must be completed in order to gain the qualificationThe course is only available to pupils who attend Perth and Kinross Council schools and are in S4, S5 and S6.You will receive email notification through our eventbrite registration process of your confirmed place on the courseYou must inform the organiser if you are unable to do the course at least one week before (where possible) so your child’s place can be offered to someone else. If you fail to attend without informing the organiser you will be charged the full value of the course and no refunds can be provided
