Come meet us under the bridge outside Castlehaven Community Centre (Camden, NW1) for 2 hours of dancing, skating, jamming, impromptu dance - offs and a scratch performance of a brand new dance and roller skating show. If you are a dancer or a skater this is where you need to be. And if you just want to watch something brand new and fresh, this is for you. The tunes will be pumping so come watch, dance or skate - there will be something for all to enjoy!Saturday 24 July 1.30pm - 3.30pmBring your skates or just feel free to come and watch!Unique Flow are a group of dancers and skaters who will be fusing various dance styles (house, breaking and contemporary) with roller skating and tricks. The performance will be looking at the history of skating, the cultural significance of roller skating in the Black community and how music became a key part of the roller skating scene. Wac Arts, a charity based in North London set up the Recover programme a participatory arts programme designed in response to the changing ways of living, learning, and engaging during the pandemic. Wac Arts launched the We Are Open commissions an opportunity to invite artists to reflect on the individual and collective experiences of the pandemic and its impact. Wac Arts commissioned 6 artists to respond and work with communities. One of which was Hakim Saber and Unique Flow, a dancer, breaker and skater who wanted to highlight how the roller skating renaissance gave dancers the freedom and creative opportunities they were missing during this challenging time. "Even though we skate alone - it is something we can also enjoy en socially distanced-masse"
