A webinar to  empower women with practical advice and resources to feel safer while running at night. Part of the  Leeds JogOn campaign.

This online session is designed to empower you with practical advice and resources to feel safer while running at night. We’ll hear from two local running clubs about the successful safety initiatives they've implemented. West Yorkshire Police will be on hand to provide expert guidance on reporting procedures and how to engage with them effectively.Additionally, we will discuss bystander training opportunites, which will equip you with the tools to be an active part of the solution.This is a crucial opportunity for the entire running community to come together. While the event is specifically for female runners, we strongly encourage male runners and allies to attend and learn how to help create a safer, more supportive environment for everyone.

Setting the Scene: Why We're Here Tonight

Come Outside is a community-led project committed to making the outdoors accessible and inclusive for all, regardless of background or experience. Through guided walks, events, and activities, they create safe spaces that promote physical activity, social connection, and mental well-being. As part of their work, they’ve recognised the impact of safety concerns on women’s participation and experiences, especially during the darker months. Sophia Kelly, who will be presenting at the webinar, will be sharing how Come Outside have led efforts to address this by facilitating open conversations within the group and organising self-defence sessions in collaboration with male allies, helping women feel more confident, empowered and supported in their communities.
