The Superposition is a self-organising network of artists, scientists, and makers in Leeds and one of the most productive and connected groups in the North of England.ASMbly (A(rt)S(cience)M(aker)bly) Lab  is our annual pop-up studio/laboratory/workshop in Leeds city centre, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists, scientists and makers. The Superposition

A workshop teaching people to mend holes in fabric using centuries old stitching techniques. People are welcome to bring items they wish to be darned or artist Hermione Crowe can provide fabric, threads and embroidery hoops.
Got a hole that needs fixing? Darn it! Darning is a centuries old embroidery technique that allows you to fix and reinforce holes in fabrics. Varieties of colours can be used to make it decorative and intricate patterns are easy to learn, making this a fun and therapeutic technique.
Participants will be provided with scraps of fabric, threads and needles and taught the basics of darning. Once this has been covered we will go on to explore different patterns that can be achieved as. Finally we will discuss how we can go about machine darning. Although as an artist, Hermione Crowe tends to use darning decoratively, it is a very practical skill and I will be happy to answer any other questions you might have about mending clothes and discussing other textile techniques.

Please bring: Participants may bring an item of clothing in need of fixing however all materials will be provided. 
As places are limited, we please ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time of the workshop or let us know if you are running late.  If you have not registered for your workshop by the start time, we reserve the right to reallocate your place/s on a first come first served basis.
