Darwin Lecture: Tracing Earth's Climate Beat
Join us as we dive deep into the rhythms of Earth's climate history at the Darwin Lecture - it's going to be a mind-expanding journey!
🌍✨ Darwin Day Lecture: Tracing Earth’s Climate Beat ✨🌍
Join us for a fascinating Darwin Day talk with Dr Anna Joy Drury exploring how Earth’s climate follows a semi-periodic rhythm shaped by our planet’s place in the solar system. Using deep-sea sediment records, discover how astronomical processes drive long-term climate patterns — and why they sometimes shift in unexpected ways.
🗓️ Sunday, 15th February
🕡 6:30 PM
📍 Secular Hall, 75 Humberstone Gate, Leicester (LE1 1WB)
🎟️ Free entry — please register via Eventbrite
🎙️ Hosted by Leicester Secular Society
Dr Drury is a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow at the University of Leicester, working across palaeoceanography, geochemistry and stratigraphy. Her research helps uncover how Earth’s climate system evolves over time, including major contributions to ocean drilling data tools and core image analysis.
☕ All are welcome — free admission, plus tea & biscuits
💜 Donations appreciated to support our volunteer-run society and future events Come celebrate Darwin Day with science, discovery, and great discussion!
