In the past several years, AI adoption has been widespread and rapid. Big tech organisations have been racing to get in on the GenAI hype, and governments have announced AI roll-out plans to embed these technologies into the public sector.Crucial to ensuring fairness, transparency and accountability is ethics. Not least when technologies increasingly influence decisions on healthcare, finance and law enforcement.The responsible development of AI not only mitigates risks to society that these technologies can create, but also fosters trust among users, promotes social good and aligns technology with human values.Join us at Bayes Centre in Edinburgh as we discuss ethics in data &amp; AI. We’ll cover work being done in participatory AI auditing to assess the quality and potential harms of AI as well looking at responsible AI strategy, governance and monitoring.Speakers:<ul><li>Wiktoria Kulik – Responsible AI Manager, Accenture</li><li>Leonardo Bezerra – Lecturer in AI/Data Science, University of Stirling</li><li>Marian Dunbar - Manager, The Data Lab Academy</li></ul>Speaker Bios:Wiktoria Kulik – Responsible AI Manager, AccentureWiktoria Kulik is a Responsible AI Manager at Accenture, where she supports clients across multiple sectors in AI governance and responsible use of technology. She previously led Digital Ethics consulting at Sopra Steria, supporting clients in financial services and other sectors in embedding digital ethics solutions in their organisations. Wiktoria is a former policy advisor at the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, where she supported the launch of the UK-US Privacy Enhancing Technologies Prize Challenge and conducted research to enable the creation of trustworthy Smart Data ecosystem in the UK. She was also a member of the Oversight Group that advised the DARE UK programme. She has degrees in Philosophy and Computer Science, with specialisation in Speech and Language Processing, as well as significant experience in the tech sector.Leonardo Bezerra - Lecturer in AI/Data Science, University of StirlingLeonardo Bezerra joined the University of Stirling as a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Data Science in 2023, after having been a Lecturer in Brazil for 7 years. He received his Ph.D. degree from Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) in 2016, having defended a thesis on the automated design of multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. His research experience spans from applied data science projects with public and private institutions to supervising theses on automated and deep machine learning. Recently, his research has concentrated on the social impact of AI applications, integrating the Participatory Harm Auditing Workbenches and Methodologies project funded by Responsible AI UK.------------------------------------Join a thriving network of over 6000 data &amp; AI professionals, students and enthusiasts.
