Data Talent 2022

Data Talent is Scotland’s largest in-person showcase bringing together fresh talent from across Scotland with organisations in the public, private and third sector actively recruiting for a variety of roles in the field of data science and AI.

The event attracts delegates from across Scotland and is aimed at anyone with an interest in pursuing a career in this field including students coming to the end of their studies or recently graduated from data and AI related courses, and professionals considering a career change and who are upskilling or reskilling to improve data literacy.

Join us as we return to an exciting in-person format for the opportunity to:

• Meet face to face with prospective employers keen to meet potential candidates(e.g. you!) to fill open data science and AI roles in Scotland
• Network with up to 300 delegates strengthening your position within Scotland's thriving data community
• Hear from a range of keynote and guest speakers - including Tim Campbell MBE - on topics such as the Future of Skills, the importance of diversity and the role of data and AI for the economy

Keynote Speakers:

Tim Campbell MBE

Tim will share his experiences of data and technology, in and outside of business, and how it is impacting the most important thing in organisations – the people. Tim is a passionate and recognised advocate of inclusion. With a focus on Education, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, he has established a ground-breaking charitable foundation, currently chairs an outstanding school board and regularly speaks on these topics at conferences and after dinner events internationally. This has led him to his most recent activity as Regional Head of Africa and Trading Futures lead for the recently voted best Proprietary Trading company in 2020, OSTC Group and Diversity and Inclusion strategic advisor to Lord Alan Sugar on the BBC One show The Apprentice, which he won in 2005, sitting alongside Baroness Karren Brady.

Manira Ahmad - Chief Officer, Public Health Scotland

Hear from Public Health Scotland’s Chief Officer, about the breadth of analytical and data driven innovation work. Learn how our workforce skills are evolving to tackle public health challenges in Scotland. Manira joined the public sector in 2015, and was appointed to lead the deployment of Local Intelligence across Health & Social Care. Supporting Integration Authorities in Scotland in co-designing linked data across multiple care sectors to support improved decision making for health and well-being.

Manira has been part of the design and development of Public Health Scotland, delivering an organisation equipped to meet Scotland's future public health challenges and developing a nation where everyone thrives. More recently her efforts have been focused on the response and recovery from this pandemic, spanning both local and national systems.

Manira has been learning and sharing across Health, Care and Community settings, seeking opportunities to collaborate with different nations in order to bring innovative solutions using data and intelligence to support communities across Scotland.

Manira is very passionate in supporting the well-being of individuals, working closely with communities to build local resilience through story-telling by shifting our thinking and the conversation to “what really matters”.

Manira has had a varied career history spanning both private and public sectors. She has worked across the financial industry, involved in global workforce planning and investment in offshore trading.

In her personal time Manira sits on the Board for a number of local charity and community organisations including the “Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector” and “Scottish Minority Ethnic Women’s Network”.

In order to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable at the event we are asking people to take basic precautions in-keeping with industry standards and government guidelines.

We ask that before you attend, you complete the following steps:

• Get free NHS Lateral Flow Tests from either your local pharmacy or order online here. (Please note these can take up to two days to arrive by mail.)

• Take the Lateral Flow Test within the 48 hours before the conference (No earlier than 9am, Sunday 13th March)
• Report your test result with the government’s test reporting portal.

Please do not attend the event if your test comes back positive or if you are exhibiting even mild Covid symptoms.

We will not have any testing facilities at The Hilton so please ensure you follow these steps before attending.

During the event we ask that you wear a mask when walking around the venue and maintain social distancing where possible. Masks are not required while seated or while eating or drinking.

There will be hand sanitizer available in each area of the venue which we encourage you to use.

The Data Lab, DataFest and The Hilton take Covid-19 extremely seriously and we trust that our attendees will do the same. If, for some reason, the event cannot proceed due to COVID restrictions we will reschedule and all tickets will remain valid.
