We run a range of events for local authority planners. Often our events are subsidised by Government which means we have to be quite strict about who is allowed to sign up. If in doubt - ask us!

Planning Advisory Service (PAS)

New planning guidance published last summer made it very clear that Government expects authorities to publish information on the developer contributions (Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106) they receive in order to increase the transparency of the planning process.
 
Government is now proposing to make publishing this data a statutory requirement <A HREF="https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/developer-contributions-reform-technical-consultation" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">through amendments to regulations</A>. To help authorities with this <A HREF="https://protect-eu.mimecast.com/s/-BQACLgBWcRp5DBFBjQJe" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MHCLG have been developing online tools</A> that will help authorities to collect this information whilst minimising the impact to officers responsible for collecting and maintaining this data.
 
If you have responsibility for collecting and monitoring this type of data come along and join one of the data workshops where we will be learning more about the tools as well as testing and piloting them. Managing developer contributions is a complex process so let’s make sure together that these tools will work for authorities across England.
 
MHCLG know that many authorities already use third party tools to manage contributions and work is being undertaken to allow the tools to simplify the process of opening up this data, whilst supporting people who manage the data in different ways.
 
For those authorities without third party tools like Exacom and Idox this is also an opportunity for you to consider whether these tools will work for you and help you to meet the proposed new statutory requirements for transparency.
 
So come along, test the tools and input on their development. It would be helpful if you could bring along your laptop and ideally sample data for input from your authority.
