As part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences, this exciting event will take you on a journey to uncover the secrets behind the data we use every day. Join us at the Salford Museum &amp; Art Gallery for a fun and interactive experience like no other!What is on Offer?Join us for 90 minutes of fun, where families can play a mind-teasing treasure hunt game based on modern-day data tools and processes introduced to you by University of Manchester researchers.The event is held in-person at Salford Museum during half-term to offer an educational family activity. We will have an introduction of the session and topic (15-20 minutes), followed by the treasure hunt game for 50 minutes, ending with room discussion on how this game relates to our everyday life.Who is this event for?We welcome all participants. Families and young people might find this a fun activity during half-term! Who is leading this?Prof Richard Kingston, Dr Nourhan Heysham and the Digital Solutions Programme team at the University of Manchester. How to play the game?Each team (family/group) follows a treasure hunt map that takes them through a journey to find the answer to a question we all use in our daily life, using data.The 3 designed treasure routes (questions) are:<ul><li>What should I wear today? Should I take an umbrella? - Using weather and flooding data.</li><li>Does my current house fall on the flood plain? - Using flooding and surface water data.</li><li>What is my least polluted route to school/work/the park? - Using traffic and pollution data.</li></ul>Each team will have access to clues and tips on what data is involved, who plays a key role in this journey, and what the final output looks like - all in a fun and engaging way!
