Data Visualisation for Beginners: What, Why and How

Join us for a crash course in data visualisation. This online workshop is part of DataFest Fringe 2023.

What makes data visualisations effective for different audiences? How can you communicate a message through data visualisation? And how can you help users explore data visually to come up with their own conclusions?

Join us in this 2-hour online workshop to get answers to these questions, and to learn to unlock the power of your data through visualisation. You will be introduced to key principles of data visualisation, and you will find out about different methods used by experts in this field. You will familiarise yourself with different visualisation techniques and learn how to choose the right one for your data. You will try your hand at visualising data in a variety of ways, and you will get some inspiration from examples from different areas, such as healthcare and ecology.

This workshop is open to everyone with an interest in data visualisation, including professionals from industry, academia, the public and third sectors. No prior experience in data visualisation or programming is needed.
