The purpose of the BCU India Group is to develop an understanding of collaborative working in India between academia, business, and civil society. Our scope includes to analyse the possibility of partnerships with industry, academia and third sector partners in the areas of Biomedical Engineering; Medical Devices; Augmented Reality /Virtual Reality; Magnesium Light-weighting; Sports; STEAM Methodology; Arts; Textiles; Manufacturing productivity and Innovation.Our vision is to begin the creation of new strategic projects, in line with faculty objectives, to create joint projects from grant funding and industrial sponsorship that will enhance Birmingham City University (BCU) and the partnered Indian Institutions and organisations.The BCU India Group is made up of 13 passionate thought leaders, who represent all 4 faculties within the university, as well as from our corporate BCU team. The group has an eclectic mix of talents that range from the arts to digital technologies, through to health, textiles, automotive engineering, psychology and sports. Inspired by the success of DWP's DataJam NorthEast, DataJam West Midlands is a 2-day hackathon, looking to address regional unemployment by harnessing the power of data to fully investigate the issue.</SPAN></P>

<H3>What will DataJam achieve?</H3>
<P>By bringing together public sector and third sector servic providers and data analysts, we can merge or correlate datasets from different sources to gain new insights into why people are jobless, when jobs are not being filled, what support needs to be given and who needs this support. </P>
<P>DataJam West Midlands is delivered in partnership by Birmingham City University, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Microsoft and the West Midlands Combined Authority.</P>
