DDI metadata for beginners: making your data FAIR with DDI

About the webinar

In collaboration with SciencesPo, our next Metadata management in the real world webinar will showcase newly developed resources designed to help beginners make their data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) using DDI.

This interactive webinar will be divided into two parts.

In the first half, our speakers – Dr Becky Oldroyd (CLOSER) and Alina Danciu (SciencesPo) - will provide an overview of the FAIRwDDI project, focusing specifically on a package of work developing training materials, aimed at metadata and DDI beginners, to support data reuse.

They will then showcase, for the first time, the set of resource created as part of this package:

• a metadata and DDI beginners FAQ booklet,
• and a DDI minimum metadata requirements template.

In part two, participants will work in groups to complete the metadata template and will have the opportunity to provide feedback to help refine and improve the resource.

About our speakers

Dr Becky Oldroyd is a Metadata Manager at CLOSER. She is responsible for preparing, quality-checking and managing the metadata in CLOSER’s research tool, CLOSER Discovery, which enables the research and data community to find, assess and understand UK longitudinal population study data.

Alina Danciu is a team leader at Sciences Po, Paris. She specialises in DDI and CoreTrustSeal. She recently secured funding as a Principal Investigator on the FAIRwDDI project, working on FAIR and DDI research, as well as DDI training resources and AI-assisted metadata curation.
