Death Cafe Coventry

I'm a former hospital nurse. I've attended a number of Death Cafes in the past, and I've found that the opportunity to talk openly about this most hidden of subjects is both liberating and fascinating.

Stella Backhouse

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.
Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.
Death Cafes are always offered:
- On a not for profit basis
- In an accessible, respectful and confidential space
- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action

Although this Death Cafe is being held in a church centre, people of all relgions and none are welcome to come along and chat about a subject we all have to face at some time in our lives, but few of us ever talk about. The agenda is completely open - the discussion goes wherever the attendees want to take it.
Entry to this event is free, but donations towards cost of tea and coffee would be appreciated.
