Wednesday 6 May  •  16 - 18 SAST
Overview

A conversational, exploration of EuroAmerican centric professional norms. Norms which underpin war on peoples, ideas and ways of life.

Who

Charmaine Roche, founder of The Philosopher's Stone Collective (PSC) will share findings from her PhD thesis in conversation with participants. She is a practicing coach, coach supervisor and researcher in the decolonial space, living in Southwell, UK. This event will be stewarded by PSC Fellow, Zayaan Buffkins. Zayaan, a founding member of the PSC, a practicing coach, facilitator and consultant, living in Cape Town, South Africa.

What

The conversation will be stewarded through a series of provocations engaging participants in small group conversations, culminating in a whole group discussion during which findings from Charmaine’s PhD, The Ethics of Coaching for Social Change in the Context of Global Oppressions, will be shared and discussed.

Two leading questions will guide us:

  • Can the coaching ecosystem be decolonised in the world as we know it?
  • What if decolonisation requires the making of a new world?

Who For

Anyone interested in the role of coaching as a human development process as well as its associated disciplines, namely psychology, leadership development, change management, organisational development, adult learning pedagogies and pedagogies of liberation.

Note: Group size is limtied to 20 to support high levels in interaction and engagement.
