This session is aimed at History teachers in Scotland, particularly those delivering the revised SQA Migration and Empire module. It will also be useful for other educators interested in teaching about the global impact of Scots settlers.

What will the session cover?

You’ll be introduced to a brand-new resource pack developed by the University of Stirling and History teachers across Scotland. We’ll explore the thinking behind the resources, key content changes in the SQA module, and practical ways to use the materials.

What’s included in the resource pack?

Accepted Answer

The pack contains ready-to-use lessons examining the impact of Scots on Indigenous peoples, cultures, and lands in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Each lesson is designed to support the revised SQA requirement to explore impact as well as contribution.

Will the session be interactive?

Yes - you’ll have opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and discuss how the materials could be adapted for your local context.

Who is leading the session?

The CLPL will be delivered by Scotdec in collaboration with the University of Stirling project team, including both academics and practising History teachers involved in developing the materials.
