Event description
This meeting will review the critical role played by the geosphere in deep geological disposal with specific reference to the UK

About this Event

The UK is in a live site selection process to engage communities interested in hosting a GDF in their local area, onshore or inshore. Site selection and GDF delivery is led by RWM, a part of the NDA Group and responsible for delivering a solution to disposing of UK’s radioactive waste. In common with almost all other countries, UK government favours deep geological disposal as the safest way of containing and isolating the waste such that it cannot harm people or the environment.

This meeting aims to inform its audience of the critical role played by the geosphere in deep geological disposal. Attendees will hear talks by invited experts that provide a summary and update on the UK GDF programme, and which explore the methods used to characterize the subsurface and model the operational and post-closure evolution of potential GDF sites.
