Step back in time! The Deep Time Walk is a guided group walk of 4.6 km with each metre representing a million years of the Earth's history.

Step back in time! The Deep Time Walk is a guided group walk of 4.6 km (precisely!), with each metre representing a million years of the Earth's history.

The guide will narrate the history as you walk, and you will discover the point at which we humans appeared on Earth and when we started damaging it. This transformative journey is an invitation to view the world with a different perspective, encouraging positive action for a regenerative Earth. The terrain is even and fairly flat, but please wear suitable walking footwear, and choose clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.

Toilets and refreshments will be available at the halfway point and at the end. We aim to have time for a chat/debrief after the walk for those who wish to join in.

This event is part of the Manningtree Earth Festival 2026 – a 5-week celebration of environmental action running from May 23 to June 30. Most events are free and volunteer led so if you can please donate when you sign up to the event.
