Join artists Megan Calver and Gabrielle Hoad at the atmospheric Devon and Exeter Institution to explore the paranormal experiments of Alec Harley Reeves (1902-1971). Reeves was a brilliant engineer, a pioneer of digital communication and the inventor of a World War II radio navigation system called Oboe; he also devised many practical experiments to demonstrate psychical phenomena. Calver and Hoad have used their recent CAMP Research Residency to explore these experiments as a cue to finding new ways to tune into hidden signals from the more-than-human.This is an interactive session with opportunities to experience some of Reeves’ methods and the hints they give of multiple ways of knowing. However, the Devon and Exeter Institution is a historic building with some accessibility issues:Toilets: There is a cubicle in the ground floor ladies toilet with flat access and grab rails (but it’s not suitable for wheelchair users). The closest fully accessible toilet is about 2 minutes away here: <a href="https://princesshay.co.uk/centre-information/facilities/changing-places-toilet/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://princesshay.co.uk/centre-information/facilities/changing-places-toilet/</a>. It is open 7am-7pm, otherwise the nearest fully accessible toilet is at Exeter Phoenix <a href="https://exeterphoenix.org.uk/about-us/access/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://exeterphoenix.org.uk/about-us/access/ </a>Garden access: A short part of the event will take place outdoors (weather permitting). Access to the D&amp;EI garden is via a narrow corridor and two steps (there is a handrail) with an additional step down into the courtyard.There is alternative flat access to an outdoor space if necessary.
