Event description
Effectively play your role in planning, monitoring and delivering accessibility efficiently throughout the software development lifecycle

About this Event

Overview

Find out how to turn accessibility from something frustrating that prevents you launching your product on time, to something that's baked-in and delivers you more customers and awards.

From Hassell Inclusion, the team who created the International Standard for embedding accessibility, ISO 30071-1, and trained Scope and Aqueduct to deliver 2019's BIMA winner for Inclusive Design.

This course is for all Product Managers, Project Managers and Business Analysts of digital products – desktop or mobile websites, hybrid and native mobile apps. It enables you to understand how to effectively play your role in planning, monitoring and delivering accessibility efficiently throughout the software development lifecycle. It does this through introducing four accessibility meetings and giving you a chance to learn how to run each of these meetings for your product's development using sample information taken from real projects. It also helps you to achieve compliance with the new ISO 30071-1 Standard which can reassure bosses or clients that you can lead teams to produce accessible products.

There will also be space to ask any other questions you may have regarding accessibility.

You will learn…

  • why accessibility is important for your business and product
  • what your role is in embedding accessibility into the software development lifecycle
  • how to effectively play your role as a product or project manager in planning, monitoring and delivering accessibility efficiently throughout your project
  • to create an accessibility strategy that is right for your product in your company culture

Is this for you?

This is relevant for all project and product managers, and business analysts of digital products – desktop or mobile websites, hybrid and native mobile apps.

Accessibility guidelines are regularly used by many of the people on product development teams to guide their work. However, the roles that often gets missed out are those to do with managing the delivery of the product. Product Managers, Project Managers and Business Analysts are responsible for defining the product's requirements and planning the use of resources across its creation, so the activities of the different people working on it come together to deliver a product that achieves its accessibility goals.

The course trains you to be effective in planning and delivering accessibility efficiently across the lifecycle of the product you are creating or re-versioning.

If you have any questions about whether the course will give you what you need, contact us at learning@hassellinclusion.com and we'll be delighted to help you.

Benefits to you/your organisation

  • Understand how to deliver accessibility right for your specific product, whether it's a public website, your mobile app, or an internal digital tool for your teams;
  • Plan accessibility into your sprint and test plans so you are able to steer the accessibility conversation during development, stop wasting money by testing accessibility too late, and maximise the likelihood of delivering an inclusive design;
  • Prioritise the results of accessibility testing when you can’t fix everything, in a practical, risk-sensitive way;
  • Balance the completing pressures of launch deadlines and accessibility quality, while mitigating legal and PR risks.
  • Turn accessibility from a stress and add-on to a planned part of all your products

Pre-Requisites

We'll send you an online pre-existing knowledge & skills questionnaire before the course, to help focus the training to the key needs of those attending.
