Design for Learning
Date and time
Description
Each year the Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) at NUI Galway organises a one-day symposium, open to all, to explore topics related to learning and teaching in higher education. At this year's Galway Symposium on Higher Education #CELT18 we will explore the design and use of Teaching and Learning Spaces in Higher Education, particularly those that facilitate active learning, collaboration, and student engagement. We hope to explore everything from state-of-the-art learning spaces to inspiring examples of 'hacking' the spaces we have, from libraries to 'learning commons', and from physical to online, hybrid, and open environments.
In addition to presentations, workshops, and discussion sessions facilitated by colleagues in NUI Galway and other Irish HE institutions, we welcome international keynote speakers including:
Donna Lanclos - anthropologist, ethnographer, higher education policy advisor @DonnaLanclos
Alastair Blyth - architect, learning space designer, senior lecturer, Univ. of Westminster @AlastairBlyth
Lorna Campbell - open education advisor, OER service manager, Univ. of Edinburgh @LornaMCampbell
